May 30, 2025

The FISM Annual Scientific Congress 2025 brought together leading researchers, clinicians and healthcare experts to discuss the latest scientific developments in Multiple Sclerosis, a condition currently affecting around 2.8 million people worldwide.

The congress highlighted how progress in earlier diagnosis, therapies and rehabilitation is significantly improving disease management and long-term outcomes for people living with MS. At the same time, speakers stressed the importance of continuing research efforts to address the many challenges that still remain.

During the event, participants explored emerging topics ranging from the development of the European Health Data Space (EHDS) to new models of Public-Private-Philanthropic Partnerships aimed at accelerating innovation in healthcare and research.

Among the keynote contributions, Paweł Świeboda discussed the ongoing evolution of the EHDS and the opportunities linked to health data integration, while Sergio Baranzini presented advances in multimodal data integration through the SPOKE precision medicine platform, combining artificial intelligence, knowledge graphs and biomedical databases.

The congress also reinforced the commitment of AISM and FISM to advancing international collaboration and research initiatives, including projects such as Global PROMS Initiative, EBVMS Project and MUSICALISE.

The event once again highlighted the growing importance of collaboration, digital innovation and patient-centred research in shaping the future of MS care and treatment.
