OneAquaHealth consortium meets in Vienna

Mar 20, 2026

The OneAquaHealth Consortium gathered in Vienna on 18–19 March 2026 for two days of collaborative discussions, strategic coordination and technical exchanges aimed at advancing the project’s mission of promoting healthier cities through healthier waters.

Bringing together partners from across Europe, the meeting served as an important milestone ahead of the project’s upcoming review meeting, offering an opportunity to assess progress, align priorities and define the next stages of implementation.

During the sessions, consortium members shared updates from the different research sites involved in the project and discussed the next operational and scientific steps. Particular attention was dedicated to the evaluation of ecological, biological and human health indicators, reinforcing the project’s integrated One Health approach linking environmental sustainability with public health outcomes.

Partners also exchanged perspectives on citizen engagement activities, ethical sustainability and co-design methodologies, highlighting the importance of involving communities and stakeholders in the development of more resilient and sustainable urban water systems.

A key focus of the meeting was the technological dimension of the project. Demonstrations showcased recent progress in AI-supported environmental surveillance, predictive modelling and digital software tools designed to support data-driven monitoring and decision-making processes.

The consortium additionally reviewed developments related to the project’s Decision Support System and Open Information Hub, while also discussing long-term exploitation pathways to maximise the impact and scalability of the project’s outcomes.

Communication and dissemination activities were another central topic of discussion, including stakeholder engagement strategies and preparations for the upcoming OneAquaHealth Project IEEE Hackathon.

The Vienna meeting once again highlighted the strong collaborative spirit of the consortium and its shared commitment to building innovative solutions at the intersection of environmental, technological and public health research.
